Success Stories
Discover how schools across the UK have transformed their communication and safety protocols with RingCentral. Our solutions have helped educational institutions enhance their operational efficiency and reduce costs.
UK-based Girls’ Day School Trust saves £100,000 migrating all 4,000+ employees to RingEX in just 6 weeks.
Founded in 1872, the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) has grown to become the largest family of girls’ schools in the UK, providing top-tier education to 19,000 students across 25 schools. GDST offers a high-quality, girls-only learning environment, focusing on STEM, literature, languages, and leadership, while fostering character development beyond the curriculum.
Integrating Seamlessly into Microsoft Teams
GDST’s previous on-prem telephony system lacked integration with Microsoft Teams, which was essential for internal messaging. This limitation required staff to use two communication apps and physical desk phones, complicating remote work and administrative tasks. Mike Coram, Head of Service Delivery, highlighted the need for a system that integrated well with Teams and offered user-friendly administrative controls.
Choosing RingEX for Enhanced Capabilities
After extensive research, GDST selected RingEX for its deep integration with Teams, user-friendly admin portal, and sophisticated data analytics. The transition to RingEX allowed GDST to manage phone support in-house, enabling immediate changes without third-party delays. The flexibility of RingEX also allowed employees to choose their preferred phone environment, whether using the RingCentral dialer in Teams or reprogrammed desk phones.
Operational Improvements and Cost Savings
RingEX provided GDST with real-time visibility into call center operations, enhancing efficiency and training. The integration with InformaCast Fusion for mass notifications further improved safety protocols. Despite these advancements, the migration to RingEX lowered GDST’s overall telephony costs, demonstrating the system’s value and efficiency.
"We have 25 schools across the UK, and in 6 weeks we had to migrate all 4,000 of our employees across all those locations onto RingEX. If we missed that deadline, we would have to pay for a one-year extension to maintain phone service with our existing provider. Thanks to RingCentral’s team, and the intuitiveness of the platform itself, we pulled it off–and saved tens of thousands of pounds."
